Power... Focus... Speed... Confidence...

My School, the Chinese Martial Arts Center, Inc., is located at 2116 Main St., in Dunedin, Florida. It is easily accessible to everyone living in the Tampa, Clearwater and St. Petersburg area. The school offers the finest instruction in traditional Chinese martial arts and offers training in the following systems:

I opened my first school and started teaching professionally in 1981. I have been fortunate to have been trained by some of the finest Chinese martial arts masters of our time including William C.C. Chen, Leung Shum, Alex Kwok, Chi Hung Marr, Tony Yang, Di Guoyong, and other masters featured on my autobiography page. After more than 25 years of teaching and operating one of the largest Chinese martial arts schools in North America, I have decide to run a private academy so that I can provide the following:

My martial arts curriculum offers one of the finest and most comprehensive training programs available in North America. Lessons are available both in a group setting and through private classes. My goal is to bridge the gap between classical teaching methods and the time constraints we all face in modern life, without compromising the thorough teaching and traditional training process required for students to succeed. My mission is to provide sound training in both External and Internal traditional Chinese martial arts for serious, dedicated, and committed students who are looking to improve all facets of their lives.

My training methods are time tested and backed by more than three decades of martial arts experience. Here are some of the benefits of regular practice: you will build a strong body and mind. You will develop strength, increase speed, gain greater flexibility, build endurance, improve coordination, increase your concentration power, learn how to stay focused and develop cat-like reflexes. Through constant training, you will acquire a calm mind, learn how to manage everyday stress, and gain the confidence and peace of mind that comes with knowing that you have the ability to defend yourself. These and many other benefits are the byproducts of training with me at the Chinese Martial Arts Center.

Kung Fu fighting!

Interest in learning how to fight is one of the first things to draw people to our martial arts school. However, most people soon find out that there is so much more to the art.

Usually, it is a lack of self-confidence that is the leading factor in motivating people to want to learn how to fight and protect themselves. Self-defense is every personís innate right and learning to defend yourself is one of the leading benefits of training in my school.

I teach no-nonsense traditional Kung Fu styles that have a rich and time-tested fighting tradition. And while our training goes far beyond the acquisition of fighting skills, the ability to be able to protect yourself in an unprovoked violent encounter is considered paramount.

Notwithstanding the importance placed on developing self-defense skills, I have found that in order for students to remain dedicated and persevere with their training, a comprehensive program that stresses all aspects of traditional Chinese martial arts is warranted and necessary. My martial arts program includes:

  • Proper conditioning
  • A sound stretching regimen
  • Fundamental training
  • Empty hand forms
  • Weapons forms
  • Partner forms with and without weapons
  • Self-defense techniques
  • Internal and External methods
  • Qi Gong
  • Qin Na - joint locking and manipulation
  • Shuai Jiao (the Chinese art of throwing)
  • Fight training
  • Sparring
  • San Shou- full contact fighting for interested students
  • Tournament competition

This inclusive training program provides a well-rounded repertoire of skills that will better insure your total development and harmony of mind, body and spirit. In essence, you will be learning the meaning of art in martial arts and be amazed when you realize that it has become your way of life.

Confucius said, "Do not enlighten those who are not eager to learn, nor advise those who are not anxious to give an explanation themselves. If I have presented one corner of the square and they cannot come back to me with the other three, I should not go over the points again."
